- Absentee Voter Application
Registered voters with a Michigan ID can request an absentee ballot online at the Michigan Secretary of State website.You can also use your absentee ballot application to be added to the NEW permanent ballot list, and a ballot will automatically be mailed to you for every election.

Each party’s Presidential primary election is a separate election, held on the same day. Voters in Michigan may choose to participate in either party’s primary regardless of party affiliation or independent status, but can only participate in one or the other. - Voting Precincts
The City of Pleasant Ridge has one election precinct encompassing the entire City. All residents vote at the Community Center, located at 4 Ridge Road.
New Changes to Michigan Elections
Michigan voters overwhelmingly approved Proposal 2 in November, 2022. This Constitutional Amendment made a number of changes to Michigan voting laws and procedures, including establishing nine days of in-person early voting, a permanent mail voter list, absentee voting changes, and other changes.

Early Voting
Early voting will be open for nine consecutive days beginning on the second Saturday before each election, and ending on the Sunday before the election. Early voting hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm each day, except Thursday when hours are noon to 8:00 pm.
Pleasant Ridge voters will be able to early vote at two locations:
- Oak Park Community Center located at 14300 Oak Park Boulevard, Oak Park, MI 48237, or
- Waterford Oaks Activity Center, located at 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, MI 48328
Pleasant Ridge and nearly every Oakland County community are working together with the Oakland County Clerk’s office to provide shared early voting sites throughout the County that are easily accessible to all voters.
Elections Topics
There is an application process to obtain an absentee ballot. To obtain an application call City Hall at (248) 541-2901 or visit the Michigan Secretary of State website.
Absentee ballots must be returned before 8 pm on election day to be counted. Ballots may be returned to City Hall before election day in person during business hours, by mail, or by using the dropbox outside of City Hall. Postmarks are not accepted except for military and overseas voters and if the ballot is received within six days after the election.
Absentee ballots may be returned to City Hall on election day between 7 am and 8 pm. Absentee ballots can no longer be returned to 4 Ridge on election day.

Your ballot will be mailed to any address you request on the day we receive your signed application.

Due to a recent court ruling every Michigan voter who offers to vote in the polls must comply with the requirement by showing picture identification or signing an affidavit attesting that he or she is not in possession of picture identification. (See MCL 158.523 for picture identification requirement)
Voters with picture identification:
Voters can satisfy the picture identification requirement by showing a Michigan driver’s license or a Michigan personal identification card. Voters who do not possess either document may show any of the following forms of picture identification as long as they are current:
- Driver’s license or personal identification card issued by another state.
- Federal or State government issued photo identification.
- U.S. Passport
- Military identification card with photo.
- Student identification with photo from a high school or an accredited institution of higher education.
- Tribal identification card with photo.
Voters without picture identification:
Michigan election law anticipates that not all voters will have picture identification. Voters who do not bring picture identification to the polls or do not possess picture identification can vote by signing an affidavit.
