Summer Drop-In Program
The Summer Drop-In program is one of our favorite programs here in the Recreation department! It has a long tradition of bringing together the kids of Pleasant Ridge in a way that creates lasting friendships and memories. The Drop-In program is meant to provide a place where our neighborhood kids can gather to stay active and engaged while learning, doing and having fun! Our official mission is:
To provide a safe, supervised, active and positively FUN summer experience for Pleasant Ridge youth ages 7-15. Programs and activities are designed to foster social interaction, to facilitate personal growth and to develop educational and recreational skills.
We are formally a "Drop-In program" which means that we are not a licensed child care or day camp provider in the State of Michigan. We are a program that plans, supervises and organizes activities for youth ages 7-15. What sets us apart is that we require a willing participant. If a child does not want to participate or be present, they have the option of going home. We still supervise and monitor the check in and check out procedure, but we do not assume day care provider responsibilities. Being a drop in program by no means, lowers the standard of our program. Our staff is trained, experienced and qualified. We work very hard to plan and organize a variety of games, crafts, contests, events and field trips to make our program fun and desirable. Every week, there is a detailed schedule and newsletter that outlines our weeks’ activities and is sent out to parents via email.
We have found that the drop in style complements the busy summer schedule that most kids seem to have. Many of our kids participate in swim team, take swim lessons, attend other specialty camps or programs, or just have family vacations and obligations throughout the summer. We have kids that come every day, a few times a week or those that just come for specific activities. Whatever you and your child decide is fine with us. We welcome everyone to come and see what we are all about!
This year we are operating the program from Monday thru Thursday, with nothing on Fridays. We run for 7 weeks and are confident that you will find the Summer Drop In Program to be an exceptional value and a wonderful experience for your child!
2010 Summer Program Drop In
Monday-Thursday, 10:00 am to 3:00pm
June 21-August 12 (No program week of July 5-8)
$100/ child ($75 for each additional child)
Residents only. For ages 7-15 (11 and up club is an option for those 11 and older)
Registration info, parent packet and field trip schedule are available early June
