City Treasurer's Report

Tax bills will be mailed the beginning of July and are due July 31, 2010.  Residents who are responsible for the summer tax payment are given an option to make 8 installment payments. Coupons will be enclosed with the summer tax bill. The installment payments must be made by the last day of each month between July and February to be deemed on time. If you are responsible for the payment, rather than a mortgage company, and have not received you bill by July 14, please contact the City Treasurer for a copy of the bill. If you make your payments through your bank be sure to schedule your payment at least five days before the due date. Bank envelopes do not always include a postmark and if received after the due date will be considered late. Properties and mortgage companies are changed on an ongoing basis, and the Treasurer's office makes every effort to make these changes in an efficient and timely manner.  Always review your tax bill when you receive it.  If there appears to be a discrepancy (such as property owner's name or mailing address) please contact the treasurer's office. Please return the top portion of the tax bill to insure efficiency in recording your payment.

Oakland County has a 24 hour property tax information hotline.  You can access this any time by dialing 248-858-0025 or use the toll free number 1-888-600-3773.  To access your tax information you will need to enter your 10-digit parcel ID number.  There is no charge for this.

Payment may be made at City Hall, by mailing a check or money order or by credit card on the INTERNET (www.paylocaltaxes.com).  City Hall hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. City Hall offices will be closed Monday, May 31, 2010 and Monday, July 5, 2010.  An after hours drop box is located right of the rear entrance on the west side of City Hall.

PLEASE NOTE:  If your payment is postmarked on the due date, it is deemed as paid on the due date.  However, if the City Hall drop box is used for your payment, the payment must be deposited in the drop box prior to midnight on the due date.  If it is received after that time, it is considered late and an interest penalty will be assessed.  Beginning March 1, all taxes are delinquent and must be paid to the Oakland County Treasurer.

Checks are accepted as conditional payment.  However, if the check is returned as unpaid by your financial institution your tax bill will be deemed as unpaid and an interest penalty will be assessed.  In addition to this penalty, an administrative fee of $30.00 will be charged for the returned check.

24 HOUR INTERNET CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS  You may now pay by VISA or MasterCard credit card online at www.paylocaltaxes.com24 hours a day.  See your tax bill for details.  You will pay a convenience fee based upon the amount of your tax.
